The Significance of a Seal
A Seal is one of the emblems representing the Holy Spirit. An emblem is a symbol representing something that has a special meaning. A Seal is a special mark indicating ownership. It is an indication of a finished transaction. The Holy Spirit has sealed believers as belonging to God. It indicates their salvation is an accomplished work.
In whom ye also trusted, after that, ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise - Ephesians 1:13 (KJV). And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. - Ephesians 4:30 (KJV).
Hence I always say "Bind up the testimony, seal the teaching among my disciples" - Isaiah 8:16 (RSV).
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. - 2 Corinthians 1:22 (KJV).
